Agua Costa del Sol is an independent, non-commercial website that aggregates and presents drinking water quality data for 14 municipalities along the Costa del Sol, Málaga, Spain. The site is intended for residents, expats, tourists and property buyers who want to understand the quality of tap water in the area before drinking it, using it for cooking, or investing in appliances.
The site is fully automated: every day at 06:00 UTC, a script queries the Spanish Ministry of Health's official water quality database (SINAC) and refreshes the scores and data published here.
All data is sourced from SINAC (Sistema Nacional de Información de Aguas de Consumo) — the official Spanish national water quality information system operated by the Ministerio de Sanidad (Ministry of Health). SINAC aggregates laboratory test results from every certified water network in Spain.
Only readings from the last year are used. Older data is excluded to keep the scores current and relevant.
The primary operator for most of the Costa del Sol is ACOSOL (Aguas y Servicios de la Costa del Sol), which manages the bulk water supply across the western Costa del Sol. Individual networks within municipalities may be managed by operators such as GESTAGUA, AQUAGEST SUR, and direct municipal services. The SINAC database lists the operator for each individual network.
This site is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Spanish Ministry of Health, SINAC, ACOSOL, or any other government body or water operator. Data is reproduced from SINAC for informational purposes only.
Scores on this site are not a substitute for official health advice. The authoritative indicator of water safety is the official SINAC certification (APTA / NO APTA) issued by local health authorities. If you have concerns about your water supply, contact your local municipality or the Junta de Andalucía.
See the Scoring Methodology page for details on how scores are calculated.
